about

Hello.

I’ve been working as a designer of one sort or another since the early 90′s.

After graduating with an Honours B.A. in Multi-Disciplinary Studies I worked as a freelance producer and costume designer for various small to mid-size theatres across the fine city of Toronto.  I was lucky enough to work regularly with Cahoots Theatre Projects a company committed to developing new voices and nurturing diversity through new works.

In the late nineties I moved to Los Angeles and dabbled in film as a costume and production designer. But I soon became fascinated with a new thing called the “internet”.

By 2000 I had completed a Certificate in Content Creation for New Media from UCLA Extension and launched a career as a multi-media designer that focused mainly on the web.  I was fortunate to work on the launch of several companies.  You learn so much when you are part of a company from the beginning.

I starting off doing Streaming Video and graphics for planetgirl.com and it’s sister site indygirl.com. At the time planetgirl.com was one of the only all Flash web sites in existence.  These sites were aimed at teen girls with Indygirl focused mainly on women in extreme sports.

I then moved on to thirsty.com (a teen news portal) to head their streaming media studio for it’s short life.  Thirsty was owned by  Handprint Entertainment and was an online teen news magazine that had a dozen different channels.

In 2002 I started with an online travel company (7 Blue Seas Vacations, Inc.), originally doing their streaming video, and eventually ended up as their lead graphic designer for their website as well as all of their digital and print marketing materials.  In 2006, that same company launched a new site (letstravelchina.com) aimed at tourism to China and I worked on the design of the website.

During the last couple of years I have been focusing on working with local artists and entrepreneurs. I really enjoy building portfolio and small to medium sized business sites as well as designing brand identities for cool, up-and-coming artists, designing key art for evocative new theatre shows and designing communication materials for these same talented artists.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions for me.  I also have a more detailed graphic design cv that I can send out as requested.

Cheers!
